Travel to Venice Italy Icons and Prodigies

Venice is a very popular tourist destination worldwide in all seasons and traveling onto the island must be arranged in due time. There are many ways to reach Venice. From abroad you can get there easily by plane, car and train. Venice is connected to the mainland (Venezia Mestre) by the Ponte della Libertà, a bridge 4 km long on which cars, buses and trains travel to the city.

These are the easiest ways of getting to Venice:By planeVenice’s main international airport Marco Polo https://www.veneziaairport.it/en/
is
located 15-20 minutes away from the city and is one of the busiest in Italy. It is also possible to get to the “Queen of the Adriatic” from Treviso Airport, which is situated to the north of Venice, approximately an hour away. The Venice Marco Polo Airport is located 4.3 miles (8 km) to the north of Venice. It is Venice’s international airport with the largest number of passengers.

How to get to Venice from MARCO POLO AirportThere are various ways of getting to Venice from Marco Polo Airport:

Transfer service

Although it's a more expensive option, it's also the most comfortable. A chofer will collect you from the airport terminal and take you by car to the port and then by water taxi to the hotel.

Bus no. 5

The Bus no.5 connects Venice’s Marco Polo Airport and the city center Piazzale Roma. The bus stops several times before getting to the last stop, so the journey can take from 30 to 45 minutes. A one-way bus ticket costs € 8 . However, for the same price, you can take an ATVO bus, which is slightly faster.

ATVO blue bus

ATVO’s buses run from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma in just 20 minutes, since the bus only has two stops. The blue buses run approximately every 30 minutes.A single journey costs € 8 and you can get the tickets at the ATVO ticket offices and in the automatic ticket machines in the baggage claim area.

Alilaguna

Alilaguna’s
water buses (vaporettos)
connect Marco Polo Airport with Piazza San Marco. Each journey costs € 15 and the water buses run all day, from very early in the morning until late at night. You can check out the schedule and get discounts on their website.

Water taxi

The water taxis can fit a maximum of ten people. They are extremely expensive and are only worthwhile if you are traveling with a large group. A ride from Marco Polo Airport to Venice is over € 120

Taxi

The land taxis are less expensive than the water taxis, but will not be able to reach your hotel if you are staying in Venice.

How to get to Venice from TREVISO (CAVOVA) Airport Treviso Airport https://www. trevisoairport.it/en/ is located 25 miles (40 km) north of Venice and is mainly used by low-cost carriers like Ryanair. The airport is officially called Canova Airport, after the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova, although it is widely referred to as Treviso Airport. Getting to Venice from Treviso Airport

ATVO provides daily buses that connect Treviso Airport to Venice city centre. This bus makes several stops, two in Mestre, one in Venezia Santa Lucia railway station and lastly, in Piazzale Roma. To get from Venice to the airport, you will have to get the same bus from Piazzale Roma. The buses leave between three and two and a half hours before the departure of each flight. A ticket costs € 22 per journey.

Barzi Service

The Barzi buses run between Treviso Airport and Venice city centre. The vehicles run at exactly the same times as the ATVO buses and are the same price. The advantage is that they take just 40 minutes to get to the center, instead of 70 minutes, since they use the freeway. The ticket can be purchased from the bus driver. This same company also connects Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Airport in just 30 minutes.

By train

Another way of getting to the “Serenissima” is by train. Venice’s central train station, Venezia Santa Lucia https://www.veneziasantalucia.it/, connects the city with numerous countries and other Italian towns.

By car

Venice isn’t the best place to drive to, since only a small part of the island is accessible to motor vehicles. Thus, you will have to leave your car in one of the following parking lots:

There are cheaper car lots before crossing the Ponte della Libertà (in the industrial park, to the right) which cost less than € 10 per day. This option is particularly popular among locals and Italians. You can purchase a bus ticket to the city center directly from these parking lots. All the buses stop at Piazzale Roma, from where you will have to take a vaporetto to your hotel.
